Beneficial Nematodes

Overview

Nematodes are soil-dwelling microorganisms that are found world wide in a wide range of soil types.  These non-segmented round worms are useful in keeping pest insects in check by parasitizing and feeding on larva, eggs, and adult in the soil.

There are many different species of nematodes, some of which are actually harmful to plants, but the beneficial ones will attack the pest ones as well.

In order to build up a population of beneficial nematodes it is recommended to spray them in your garden twice a year.
I have a blog post which outlines how this is done, you can read it here:  Using Beneficial Nematodes to Control Garden Pests
